【概要】
かつて1960年代にル・マン24時間レースなどで活躍したレーシングカーであるフォード・GT40のリメイクであり、フォード100周年を記念して限定1,500台がフォードと関係の深いサリーンの工場で2006年まで生産された。この「GT40」という名称には商標登録の問題があり、結局、フォードGTという名称で販売されることになった。駆動方式はミッドシップ（MR）で、V8エンジンを縦置きし、その後ろにデフとギヤボックスが配置されるという、レーシングカーとしてオーソドックスな作りをしている。オリジナルの「GT40」は右ハンドルであったが、このフォードGTは左ハンドルであり、イギリスでも左ハンドルのまま販売された。

The GT is a road car from Ford, with rear wheel drive, a mid mounted engine and a 2 door coupé body style. Its engine is a supercharged petrol, 5.4 litre, double overhead camshaft 90 degree V 8 cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder. In this application it has an output of 550 bhp (558 PS/410 kW) of power at 6500 rpm, and maximum torque of 678 N·m (500 lb·ft/69.1 kgm) at 4500 rpm. This power is supplied to the wheels through a 6 speed manual gearbox.
