【概要】

1982年にLP500の市販車種として登場したのが、4,754 ccのLP500S。323台が生産された。V12エンジンの2バルブ、キャブレターはサイドドラフトで ボディと内装はLP400Sシリーズ3を引き継ぎエンブレムは5000Sとなっている。北米仕様はKジェトロニックのインジェクション。
LPはミッドシップ縦置き（Longitudinale Posteriore ）、「500」は排気量（cc単位、10分の1表記）を示す。原型となるLP500自体の初登場は1971年のジュネーブショーで、革新的なデザインは大反響を呼んだが、エンジンの冷却効率が悪くオーバーヒートが頻発し、量産には至らなかった。
