【概要】

「悪魔のZ」こと、湾岸ミッドナイトの主人公「朝倉 アキオ（あさくら アキオ）」の乗るS30型フェアレディZ。ミッドナイトブルーで塗装されたその車は、まるで意思を持つかのように、また「くるおしく身をよじるように」走り、主人公の手に渡るまでに何度もクラッシュを繰り返し、数々の死亡者や負傷者を出したことから「悪魔のZ」として伝説化した。
チューニングを施したのは、かつて「地獄のチューナー」として日本のチューニング界に名を轟かせた「北見 淳（きたみ じゅん）」。当時の市販車では最速とされていたポルシェ・911ターボに対抗するためS30型フェアレディZのL28型エンジンの排気量をボアアップし3.1リッターに拡張し、TD06ツインターボを装着。燃料供給装置には、キャブレターが使用されている。この最初期の仕様の時点で既に悪魔のZは出力600馬力、トルク80kg·mを叩き出す常識外れのモンスターであったが、ワンオフパーツはクランクシャフトを除き一切使用されておらず、市販の改造パーツを組み込んだのみであった。
ナンバープレートは、横浜33 て 53-68。車体は5ナンバー枠だが排気量が2リッターを超えているので3ナンバーであり、L28改と記載し改造車として車検を通した個体である。

The Devil Z (Japanese: 悪魔のZ Romaji: Akuma no Zetto) is known as the S30Z with supernatural speed. The car is said to be possessed because it keeps getting into crashes, rejecting it's owners. After being defeated by the Blackbird, main character Akio visits the junkyard the next day to find parts for his Z31 (as stated in the manga) but then he finds the Devil Z. Even after being told to not buy it, Akio buys and repairs the car. This version of the car lasts until it's 3rd-4th crash where it's rebuilt and upgraded.
