【概要】

7代目となるエボVIIは、ベース車輌がランサーセディアに移行。4WDシステム、ブレーキングシステムを進化させ、「走る・曲がる・止まる」の運動性能をさらに向上させている。
グレードは快適装備も充実するモノグレードとなるGT-Aをラインアップ。ランエボシリーズで初のオートマチックトランスミッションを搭載、ギャランVR-4で熟成を重ねたマニュアルシフト操作可能なINVECS-IIスポーツモード5A/Tにステアリングシフトスイッチを追加採用。外観は控えめな小型リアスポイラーやフロント中央にナンバー移行をし、独自の空気抵抗の低減が考慮されている。
搭載されるエンジンは、実績のある2L 直4DOHCインタークーラーターボの4G63型ユニットを改良したもの。ATの特性に最適化して、ピークパワーよりも低中速域でのレスポンスを重視した272ps/6500rpm・35.0kgm/3000rpmのパワーとトルクを絞りだす。組み合わされるサスペンションは、フロント/マクファーソンストラット・リヤ/マルチリンク式となる。
駆動方式はフルタイム4WD。センターデフの差動制限を3モードで電子制御するACD（アクティブセンターディファレンシャル）とリヤデフの左右駆動力をコントロールするAYC（アクティブヨーコントロールシステム）を装着。ひとつのコンピューターにより統合制御することで、優れた加速性能や操縦安定性を実現する。安全機構としてデュアルエアバッグ、旋回制動時の操縦応答性を向上させたEBD付きスポーツABS、フォースリミッター&プリテンショナー付きシートベルトを標準装備している。
