【概要】

小型プレミアム・カーとして新たな市場を開拓したMINIのラインナップに、ユニークなシューティング・ブレークのコンセプトを取り入れ追加されたのがMINI Clubman(クラブマン)。
英国で狩猟などに使われたクルマで、伝統的にシューティング・ブレークのモデルは2ドアでありながら、後ろに猟銃や荷物を運ぶスペースを確保していた。レギュラーモデルである3ドアハッチバックよりも全長が24cmも長くなり、足元のスペースが8cm拡大。車両のリア部分には左右のゲートがそれぞれ外側に開く観音開きのスプリットドアを装備し、荷物の出し入れをスムーズに行なうことができる。
車両右側に追加されるクラブドアは、進行方向とは逆に開くため、後席への乗り降りをスムーズに行なえる。新開発の1.6L 直列4気筒DOHCエンジン（可変バルブ制御システム）は最高出力は120ps。クーパーS クラブマンにはコモンレール式直噴、ツインスクロールターボエンジン175psを発揮する。6個のエアバッグ、急ブレーキ操作を検知するとブレーキ圧を可能な限り早く最大限まで上昇させるブレーキ・アシスト機能、操縦安定性を高めるダイナミック・スタビリティ・コントロール(DSC)、エレクトリック・ブレーキフォースディストリビューション（EBD）、コーナリングブレーキコントロール（CBC）を標準装備。

The 4 cylinder, double overhead camshaft turbocharged engine has 4 valves per cylinder and a capacity of 2 litres. This unit develops power and torque figures of 141 bhp (143 PS/105 kW) at 4000 rpm and 305 Nm (225 lbft/31.1 kgm) at 1750-2700 rpm respectively.
